Vivitar's ViviCam X024 is an entry-level compact digital point-and-shoot camera that falls near the top of Vivitar's lineup, due mainly to its higher resolution of 10.1 megapixels. It has up to 3x optical zoom, as well as 8x digital zoom.

It has a 2.4" LCD screen to take and view pictures, and point-and-shoot features such as face and smile recognition, red eye reduction, and digital image stabilization. There are eight different preset shooting modes, and several white balance modes, including automatic. Internal memory capacity is 32MB, and this can be expanded with an SD card up to 8GB. The X024 uses 3 AAA batteries as a power source. Other features include 2, 5, or 10 second self-timer, PhoTags software, and compatibility with both Windows and Mac operating systems.

#vivitar_vivicam_x024 got it for free. previous owner went to change the battery and it quit working..
well i took the two screws out of each side and additional screw out of bottom. at the hinge there is a contact. it doesn't get good 'contact' so i bent out with the same screw driver. put hinge without the middle section and tested. presto it started working again so i reassembled and is now working fine.
so....the hinge has a poorly designed contact that needs to be moved out or a wire ran from to keep contact for batteries. works well now and here is the problem.....

#vivitar_vivicam_x024 yeah i hate how my camra is you have to hold down da powr button and then when you let go itr shuts off and now i waz going to my little sisters b-party and i had just put in new batteries and it wont turn on at all im about to through the dumb thing away i got this camera so i could take pictures and now i realised i should have gotten a bettr camera . are anyone elses cameras the vivitar x024 camera haveing the same problem????

#vivitar_vivicam_x024 I have a problem with what I think is the power button I have to press and hold it down in order for the vivitar to stay on and if I let it go naturally the vivitar goes off any ideas
