Samsung SL30
$100.00
Released March, 2009
The Pros:Image stabilization is very effective - ideal for younger children and other users with shaky hands. Pre-configured shooting modes produce excellent results - minimizes time spent focusing the camera and manually applying various settings. Overall color balance is very good for the price point - black and white levels are distinct, hues are bright and vivid.
The Cons:Battery life is very short - rechargeable power is highly recommended for frequent users. Lacks a "mode wheel" or other source of quickly navigating camera functions - forces users to manually seek out and select most common features. Build quality is fairly poor - plastic components feel cheap and lens motor is slow/sluggish.
The Samsung SL30 is similiar to the SL202 except for the fact that it has less features and is fifty dollars cheaper. It is a 10 mega-pixel digital camera that doesn't have many of the features that the standard digital camera comes with, but also doesn't have the cost.

The SL30 has a 3x optical zoom that will not give the consumer great shots of nature, but will do well for family parties and the like. Digital image stabilization and the 2.5 inch LCD screen are great for anyone, as is the face detection, a feature that figures out where the faces are in the photo and adjusts the settings to get the best picture.

Picture quality is lowered considerably when shooting in overly bright or dark environments - dark pictures produce "noise", bright pictures appear washed out
