Pentax Optio Z10

The Pentax Optio Z10 offers a fairly standard 8 megapixel sensor along with a 7x optical zoom lens, much more zoom capability than many other digital compacts in its class. Shooting modes include scene modes for common situations (portrait, landscape, etc) and Pentax's fully automatic "Green" mode which lets the camera select every aspect of the image settings for true "point and shoot" simplicity.

The lens is protected by a sliding door which operates as the camera's on/off switch. Reviewers mention that it does tend to slide open fairly easily in a purse or pocket, resulting in unnecessary battery drain, so a camera case may be a good idea to accompany this camera.
