The TS1's LCD panel is also deliberately thickened for protection against pressure, allowing the display to operate with clear visibility even underwater. The TS1 is waterproof up to a depth of 10ft, shockproof from falls up to 5ft, and dustproof, and is the world's first camera to combine these properties with AVCHD Lite HD video recording capabilities. The TS1 features Panasonic's proprietary Intelligent Auto (iA) mode enhanced with Face Recognition, a function that "remembers" registered faces, so that when a familiar face is in the frame, it optimizes the focus and exposure so that the face is bright and sharply focused.

Other standard iA functions include: Mega O.I.S which prevents blurring caused by shaky hands when shooting; Intelligent ISO Control which prevents blurring caused by the subject moving as you shoot; Intelligent Scene Selector which selects the most suitable Scene mode for the situation; Intelligent Exposure which adjusts the brightness of dark areas in an image; Face Detection which helps capture clear, crisp shots of faces; and AF Tracking which keeps the focus locked onto the subject, even if it moves. The Venus Engine HD image processor has twin CPUs that carry approximately 2.4x processing capability and integrates all the numerous advanced functions with high performance and low power consumption. Available in Silver, Orange, and Green.
