The Pros:Large 1/1.63" 10MP sensor - largest amongst point and shoot cameras, better image quality and low light noise control. Very bright 6 - 24mm lens (28-112mm equivalent) with an aperture of 1.8 - 2.8 for good collection of available light. Fairly small and compact - can fit into a pocket unlike larger professional point and shoots, larger camera systems.
The Cons:Video quality lags behind image quality. Video autofocus does not work well. Lens is prone to flaring.
The Olympus XZ-1 is a compact, enthusiast-grade camera featuring a combination of a few gimmicks with a multitude of premium-level features. It features a 1/1.63” sensor with 10MP, a fast (f1.8 at 28mm to f2.5 at 112mm) 4X iZuiko Zoom Lens, and a maximum ISO up to 6400 for see-in-the-dark conditions.

It borrows the TruPic V image processor from Olympus’s current Pen Micro Four Thirds dam, but adds a 3” OLED display on the back. Video wise, the XZ-1 supports 720p HD video at 30fps via a quick one-touch record button. The most standout features on the device are its manual controls, including a control ring and a wheel controller, for adjusting ISO, aperture, shutter, and more. It’s essentially a DSLR (function-wise), except in a more consumer-friendly package.
