Fujifilm's own Fujinon 4x optical zoom lens is included for delivering everything from wide-angle to telephoto capabilities, utilizing an aspherical design for maximal resolution. Two ED layers have been added in effort to minimize colour fringing and unbalanced contrast levels, enabling consistent image quality across the entire zoom range. Photographers who suffer from shaky hands will benefit greatly from the camera's OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) mechanism, which aims to counteract blurring by preserving edge areas. When blurring and other "bokeh" effects are desired, users can access the X10's 7-blade aperture diaphragm for attaining full detail of the subject with defocused background composition. A large CMOS sensor is also included that works alongside the camera's dual-core EXR processor to provide fast procession, HD video capture and continuous high-speed shooting.
