The FinePix REAL 3D W1 is the world's first 3D camera, released by Fujifilm alongside a 3D photo viewer in fall 2009. The first-generation, point-and-shoot device achieves a stereoscopic effect without the need for glasses using dual lenses and twin 10MP CCD sensors, creating the appearance of a 3D image by layering two 2D images together.

The 3D photographs can be viewed on the 2.8" 3D LCD screen or wirelessly transmitted to the optional 3D photo viewer. The W1 also shoots video in 3D, as well as 2D video and stills, and includes advanced 3D image modes for macro, landscape, and interval photography, as well as standard 2D/3D scene presets.
