Following the F50fd, the Fujifilm F60fd continues to utilize the 12 megapixel, seventh generation Super CCD sensor (although the next generation sensor is already in use in the higher-end F100). The 3x optical zoom and dual image stabilization are also directly inherited from its predecessor.

However, updated capabilities are found within the firmware, including face detection.Fujifilm promises that the F60fd will continue the line's tradition of delivering better low light performance than competitors, with the F60fd capturing high-resolution photos at ISOs up to 1600. Although features like aperture and shutter priority mode offer a degree of control beyond that needed for simple snapshots, the F60fd is positioned for general consumers, with the beefier F100 delivering a more advanced sensor and features to the more demanding buyer.
