Canon's PowerShot SD940 IS is a mid-range point-and-shoot digital camera that has many features designed to increase convenience - these include face detection, blink detection, red eye reduction and image stabilization, among others.

It has a 4x optical zoom capability and a total resolution of 12.1 megapixels the SD940 is also stylish and has a metallic finish available in four different colors. It is compact and portable, and has 22 different preset shooting modes. AUTO mode automatically selects from among these, or they can be selected manually. The LCD screen measures 2.7" diagonal, and allows both image reviewing and taking photos, and it also displays hints or information about different modes. Another feature is 720p high-definition video capture, as well as a HDMI connection to playback videos on a compatible HD screen. Other features include PictBridge one-touch printing, rechargeable battery and self-timer.
