The PowerShot S90 is a mid-range digital camera and is one of Canon's higher-end models of point-and-shoot compact cameras. It uses Canon's high-sensitivity DIGIC 4 image processor which enhances overall image clarity (especially in low-light settings), and has a maximum resolution of 10 megapixels.

The S90 offers a wide range of pre-set shooting options, such as manual, portrait, landscape, aperture priority, sports, indoor, and many more, including RAW and JPEG formats, for more detailed or more compact images, respectively. It also has a large, 3.0-inch diagonal LCD screen to both view and take pictures with. Optical zoom is capable of 3.8x, with added 4x digital zoom for a total of 15x combined, and these also feature optical image stabilization. This camera uses a rechargeable battery pack and includes a wall charger.
